As long as I can remember, March has been my most hated month of the year. To combat my negative feelings toward this time period, I try to occupy myself with things that bring joy and happiness.
Thankfully, on this first day of March the Carlsbad Flower Fields open. This is one of my favorite things to do in town; I make it a point to go see this spectacle of beauty at least once during the season each year. It is a breath-taking sight.
If you have never been, it is a must-go. The natural beauty of the fields make for a wonderful escape and provide amazing photo opps.
The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields® at Carlsbad Ranch, in Carlsbad, California, are in a full bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, is also one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California (source: TheFlowerFields.com).
Admission is relatively inexpensive – $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-10. Believe me, it is worth every penny. Don’t delay – the season ends May 9.
I may try to go this weekend. Happy March! Enjoy.
