Americana Tour Group: Applebee’s

About six times per year, a group of us go out for dinner at a classically Americana venue.

The criteria:

  • nationwide chain restaurant
  • cheesy commercials
  • family friendly

Previous venues have included Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and Island’s.  You get the idea.  This month’s destination: Applebee’s.

Scott and I used to live walking distance to Applebee’s so we have a strong affinity for the restaurant, the staff and the frequent patrons.  In fact, we’re pretty sure that Alexis is the greatest bartender around (catch her on Wednesday nights), and that we’ve met both Mr. Clairemont and the Mayor of Clairemont there – if such positions exist.

While this month we didn’t end up eating much at The ‘Bee’s, their menu and bargains are hard to pass by.  The Ultimate Trios include three appetizers for $11. Two-for-20 meals include two entrees and one appetizer to share.  They also have phenomenal healthy options with everything less than 550 calories.

Our favorites: boneless buffalo wings and spinach artichoke dip.
